Tim Procter

Technical Manager, Development

Tim works with business-critical database servers. Uptime is critical. Downtime’s not an option. Knowing his contributions can help make a DBA’s life a little easier or a client’s database a little safer inspires him to constantly seek out new ideas and solutions to challenging problems.

Tim leads the development of Pythian’s internal software tools, and encourages the company’s use of software engineering practices, ensuring the team efficiently produces tools that meet expectations for security, performance, stability, reliability and user acceptance. In addition to an extensive software-development background, Tim has five years of experience as a DBA, giving him a clear, first-hand understanding of that frontline aspect of Pythian’s business—with expertise in MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQL technologies.

When Tim isn’t working with his team at Pythian—which he proudly deems ‘the greatest’—you may find him contributing a book review for the IEEE Computer Society. He holds a B.A.Sc. in Software Engineering, is a Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP), and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
