Shakir has been with The Pythian Group for 7 years. He has applied almost a decade's experience with Oracle 8, 8i, 9i, 10g to an enormous variety of situations, and as a result, he is exceptionally well equipped to handle some of the world's most challenging Oracle environments.

Having supported environments with multi-terabyte datasets and many thousands of concurrent users, Shakir's areas of special interest are in data architecture warehousing, scalability, and performance tuning/troubleshooting.

Before joining Pythian, Shakir worked with Cognos as a developer of their Visualizer product, and with Nortel on their OC48 Optical equipment. He also worked with the government of Canada supporting the world's busiest Oracle installation on the z/OS mainframe.

Shakir was the techinical editor of Oracle 9i, A Beginner's Guide, published by the Oracle Press.
