Oracle’s CEO Larry Ellison has always had a knack for knocking down his competitors in interviews, but his attack on SAP goes much deeper. With Oracle’s recent aggressive acquisition approach, Ellison seems to have completely reversed from his opinion that “the sure sign of a struggling software company is that it starts writing checks instead of software.”

oracle’s new strategy could potentially change both the company and the entire industry. According to SAP Executive Board Member Shai Agassi, however, “You don’t get more powerful by eating more. You get more bloated.” Either way you look at it, it’s a risky business that will surely be watched with great interest.
