Gartner: Oracle Strong In Databases, but Must Execute on Applications

According to Gartner analysts at Gartner Symposium ITxpo 2005, Oracle remains the dominant database vendor, but will face challenges as it tries to expand its middleware and applications sales. The slightest misstep when trying to merge its recent acquisitions will only serve to benefit its key competitor, SAP

Gartner also predicts that Oracle’s Fusion framework will be ready a full year later than Oracle has promised, which won’t help to improve the company’s disjointed image. According to Gartner analyst Jeff Comport, “The challenge for Oracle is to move from individual products into an overall message,” one that sums up what Oracle does for the customer.” read article.
