Oracle OpenWorld 2012 is just over a month away and yes we are organizing the Annual Oracle Bloggers Meetup — one of your top favorite events of the OpenWorld.
HOPE Volleyball Summerfest (Helping Other People Everywhere, Ottawa-Carleton Inc) celebrated 30 years of fun for a cause this year. My impressions: being the first time that these kind of conferences were done in Argentina I have to say it was great, small but great. No many people knew about the event and even that the response was pretty good. It was a 3 day event with plenty of technical talks and some others talks coming from Companies who wanted to share experiences and impressions on what is coming for MySQL technologies.
These are my personal rules that I’ve been following moderating the public forums on LinkedIn. I’ve posted on that topic in the discussion on IOUG Exadata SIG forum. As I’m passing RAC SIG group to the next folks on the board (I’m the RAC SIG president until end of August) I needed to hand over my forum management duties too. I decided that it might be useful to the wider audience so why don’t I just publish this on the blog?
Had a very interesting experience in my “RACing up the Miles” session this morning. There were about 70 people in the room and I hope they enjoyed the session as much as I did. I discussed a wee bit of architecture about RAC and concentrated on a very basic beginner’s primer to management activities with srvctl and crsctl.

I’ve attended the Strata conference in NYC last week. Its been many years since I’ve last attended a conference without presenting in it. I decided to attend the conference since it is considered the foremost data science conference. And I was very much interested in what those data scientists are up to. I share some of it here.
We have incident reporting procedures at Pythian. This incident report was sent just recently internally at Pythian. We learned some good lessons from it so I hope it would be useful to the community as well – As part of our incident management process, you will find below a summary of the details from the incident that occurred on July 29th at 3PM EDT. Overview: Pythian employees were de-motivated by the lack of refreshments on Friday afternoon
There has been quite a bit written about Oracle Mix Voting (let me refer to it as OMV for short) this year and I don’t think I should waste your time restating any of this. What I wanted to do is to take a step back and try to list “stakeholders” of OMV.
Well day two here at PgEast has drawn to a close and it was another very informative day.Today I concentrated on the more common tasks of a Pg DBA so I attended three talks (four if you count mine) that where rather heavy on the technical side of being a Pg DBA. Keep reading.
