Oracle Buys Pricing Optimization Company

Oracle is upping the ante in the retail applications space. The company has just announced it will acquire ProfitLogic, a privately held company that develops mathematically intensive analytic software to help retailers determine optimum product pricing. This is Oracle’s second move into the retail arena after winning a bidding war with SAP in March for retail applications leader Retek.

“This places Oracle as the leader in retail profit optimization,” said Tom Madigan, VP of Oracle Retail Solutions. Approximately 1,900 customers use the combined Oracle/Retek/ProfitLogic stack. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
