Oracle, SAP Wage Bare-Knuckle Fight for Dominance

“I won’t predict the round we knock them out, but we will,” says Oracle President Charles Phillips.

Although Oracle is currently running a distant second to SAP in market share, the company seems committed to unseating its rival. SAP currently holds 45% of the global market for HR, accounting, and basic business software, while Oracle stands at 19%, but Oracle remains undeterred.

Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP America, counters, “The reality is, we are the market leader, and gaining share. This other stuff is a sideshow.”
