Martin Wisniewski, Harish Ramchandani and I are headed to GITEX 2006 in Dubai tomorrow. If you haven’t heard of this trade show, let me tell you it’s huge. It’s measured at one of the world’s top three IT trade shows by attendance, which last year was about 80,000 people!

If anyone happens to be in Dubai during the show days of the 18th to the 22nd, I’ve got a couple extra exhibitor-guest passes. Just send me an email at vallee [ at ] and I’ll give you a shout once we land and buy SIM Cards for our phones.

I am hoping to achieve the following during our visit to GITEX:

1) Have some meetings with potential customers who want to evaluate our services, and
2) Meet some movers & shakers and help them to see how partnering with a managed services company that can deliver production support for Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server in a location-independent makes good business sense.

If you would like to meet or know someone you think we should meet, drop me a line. If you want to set that up while I’m there personally, send me a note @ vallee [ at ]; I’ll be checking my email regularly.

We’ve got a pretty big booth for our inaugural GITEX appearance and to launch our services to the Middle East / Gulf region. (Well, I should say our services are available world-wide, but we are targeting this region for special attention in 2007. The other region we’re targeting is the UK, as you can maybe guess based on our show of force at UKOUG this week!) If you are attending and want to find us, we’re at the Oracle end of the main Pavilion, just across the hall and down a short ways from the big Red Hat booth. We’ll be giving away a Sonos Digital Music System worth something like $1500 on the last day, so be sure to drop in and fill in a ballot if you’re going.

Hope to meet some of you there!
