About six weeks ago I posted about leaving Pythian. I had a month off in which I spent quality time with my husband, including packing up our apartment to move two blocks away. I also spent some time doing some planning and organizing for OpenSQLCamp Boston, happening in 6 weeks. Many people have been wondering what my next move is. Well, Tuesday was my first day as Database Operations Manager at PalominoDB. PalominoDB’s principal, Laine Campbell, is someone I have collaborated with for the past few years, including co-presenting at the 2009 O’Reilly MySQL Conference and Expo. The job is similar to the work I was doing before — remote database management. PalominoDB is a much smaller company, and I am excited for the opportunities that a smaller size will bring. Overall I enjoy helping people by making their databases run and recover better; the role of a DBA suits me particularly well. I am happy to join the PalominoDB family!
