Inside Pythian
Last week brought great news to Pythian – one of our DBAs in Pakistan, Fahd Mirza, has become an Oracle ACE. Fahd joined Pythian in September 2010 as the very first Pythian employee in Pakistan and thanks to his skills and ambitions ended up on the team supporting Exadata environments. I should also mention that another Oracle ACE DBA joined us recently – Jared Still. Jared is a well respected member of Oracle community, member of the OakTable Network and a veteran of the Oracle-L mailing list
Pythian, a cluster of passionate DBAs, gives freedom to their DBAs to act. Here, with many companies, and with many databases of a different nature with varying requirements the DBAs are kept on fire. DBAs find reasons to come to their job every day, and when they do and learn new things every day, they rise to new heights. With new heights comes sense of achievements which generates happiness and when the DBAs are happy, databases under them touch new heights of mirth and perform beautifully. That is what Pythian is all about in my opinion.
Hey ALL! I just got a very good present from Santa :) I Passed 1Z1-536 Oracle Exadata 11g Essentials and 1Z1-515 Data Warehousing 11g Essentials certification exams. How cool it is if small things like these can make you rejoice like a child :) I am still smiling ….
After over a hundred hours of hard work, Pythian has achieved multiple specializations under our Platinum membership level of the Oracle PartnerNetwork’s OPN Specialized program. We’re proud to be recognized by Oracle as a value-added services partner.
The Pythian Group, Inc., a leading provider of remote database infrastructure services, and a Platinum member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), today announced it has achieved four specializations under the OPN Specialized Program. By attaining “specialized status” Pythian has demonstrated and met rigorous business and technical competency criteria for core Oracle solutions including Oracle Database 11g, Database Performance Tuning, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), and Oracle Linux. Through specialization Pythian demonstrates solid experience, expertise and success with planning, deploying and managing Oracle products in complex and large-scale environments, providing added value to Oracle end-customers.
I’m very excited to welcome yet another fellow Oakie to Pythian — Daniel Fink has recently joined us in Denver. In the last couple weeks, we have enjoyed having Dan at our Headquarters in Ottawa.
Today marks my last day at Pythian. I have been at Pythian for almost three years. In those three years, Pythian’s already thriving MySQL practice has grown even more. I have worked with big and small clients alike, across many industries, managed a team of up to 4 DBAs, and learned a lot not just about MySQL, but what my goals are in general.
Good afternoon and welcome to issue 27. The number 27 according to numerology is “the symbol of the divine light” so I’ll try to do that ideal justice. We’re off to a good start, what with me actually getting this out on schedule and such, so let’s get to it while the day is still quiet.
Good evening and welcome to this weeks edition of Blogrotate. It’s a bit later than usual this week due to client concerns but I could not let this week go by without something. This week, after all, is the release of Ubuntu 10.04LTS (Lucid Lynx) so I get to leverage my supreme blogging power to promote the product since I use it pretty much everywhere now.
Good afternoon and welcome to another edition of Blogrotate. Though I have been contributing to Blogrotate since its inception, this is the first time I have had the honour of posting it myself. Go me!
