User Groups
The mix of presentations at the UKOUG this year offers a plethora of education for a variety of attendees’ areas of concentration and I, being primarily a CORE database person, will easily find food for thought for sessions to attend when not tied up elsewhere.
Time for my user group rant again. Every time I am poised on the edge of taking another pilgrimage to an Oracle technical event I descend into this user group smoke screen ( a good thing) and spout rhetoric about how amazingly valuable they are. User groups are frequented by the salt of the tech user community.
If you’re like me and are a DBA in the UK with a penchant for MySQL or Oracle, you’ll know we have a smörgåsbord of conferences here next week. We’ve been waiting, and like buses two have come at once. We have the UK Oracle User Group Conference 2012, in Birmingham on 3rd – 5th December 2012, and the Percona Live London MySQL Conference running on 3rd – 4th December. Pythian will be speaking at both events.
A mere 5,018 minutes until the festivities start at the 2012 version of the UKOUG User Group Conference. The show is intense and hugely educational with some of the world’s finest in attendance and presenting. For us Pythian’ites the trek terminates on Wednesday evening with British football’s Manchester United. Keep a close eye out for RACAttack above the vendor forum. Pythian’s own Alex Gorbachev and others will help you attack the RAC. Not to be missed.
Andrew Moore and Ben Mildren return from Ottawa to Bristol to London all in the name of MySQL
Perth is far from everywhere, but not far from the Oracle technologies. Passion, knowledge, and urge to share the experience, skills, tips and knowledge brought people from across the planet to gather under one roof and learn, educate and network under the banner of Oracle with 20:20 Foresight.
There is a very strong Oracle Community in Perth, Australia. I admire many Perth based Oracle User Group volunteers who year from your organizing a great Oracle event. This year it isn’t an exception. I just spent 30 minutes going through the program and I should say the lineup of speakers is very impressive. Here’s the schedule.
This year’ OOW was even more amazing for me. For the first time I presented at OpenWorld. It is great to see how many people now share my interest in integrating Hadoop into the enterprise data warehouse eco-system. To those who missed my presentations and to those who attended and want to review the slides, you can find the content here.
Pythian remained active in the core orbit of Oracle Open World 2012. Its presenters, bloggers, tweeters, managers, marketing, and rest of the people rocked the stage and backstage. This blog post shares some moments from this year’s Oracle’s mega blockbuster conference.
If you are into the social media and a database professional, you are sure to know that Pythian is really passionate about the bloggers of database technology. Pythian has been carrying the torch of Bloggers Meetup tradition at the Oracle Open World, and has done it again this year in San Francisco’s Jillian opposite the Moscone West.
