Presenting at TCOUG 2011 Winter Meeting

I will be speaking at the Twin Cities Oracle Users Group 2011 Winter Meeting. It’s the first time I’m speaking for this user group so I’m excited to meet the new audience. I will present one hour version of my Grid Infrastructure Internals session. Of course, no demos during presentation as it’s just enough to cover the theory slides but I’ll leave the demo as a homework as usual. :)

Call for Papers – NoCOUG 2011

North California Oracle User Group are planning their 2011 conferences and are looking for good presentations! We are a very friendly local user group, so if you live in NorCal and never presented before – this is a great place to start! We love seeing new presenters and we even have a public speaking expert on our board who loves giving feedback when requested. Of course, we are nice to seasoned gurus too.

UKOUG Days 2 & 3

My presentations are finished and the feedback positive. I will be presenting one of sessions (Using AWR/ASH data) at RMOUG Training Days and Hotsos Symposium 2011 with minor modifications (I wonder…can I use the 11g analytical function LISTAGG with AWR/ASH data?). Anyway here are some highlights from the last day and a half…

News from UKOUG 2010 Conference

The highlight of Monday night was Doug Burns shaving ceremony and finalizing it at Tap & Spile. I have captured some videos but they need some post-processing before I can publish them. Another highlight was watching photos of previous UKOUG conferences I attended.

UKOUG 2010 – 2 Days Later

Blogging from the Speaker Ready room which is now suited on the balcony overlooking the exhibition. I must say that I like the new location. Not only it is closer to the action, but allows you to oversee who is hanging out over the exhibitors. There’s been a number of interesting sessions, but it’s little things here and there that I learn that provide some real value. Here’s a few examples

UKOUG Day 1.5

After an inauspicious start, my 7th visit to Birmingham for the UKOUG Conference is in full swing. As in the past, the quality of the presentations is outstanding and the biggest challenge to the attendee is to decide which of the 3 concurrent sessions to attend.

Pythian at UKOUG Technology and E-Business Suite Conference 2010

Who from Pythian are at the UKOUG conference this year? In additional to myself, it’s Christo Kutrovsky, Daniel Fink, Paul Vallee and Andrew Poodle. Christo, Dan and myself are presenting, Andrew is helping organization of MySQL track as a MySQL SIG Chair and Paul… well, I’d say Paul is a slacker so he is covering the beer tap to pay up! :) It’s close to 2am – gotta get some sleep before tomorrow.

Webinar: What you need to know for a MySQL 5.0 -> 5.1 upgrade

IOUG has a free series of three webinars on upgrading MySQL. Each webinar is an hour long, and it starts with a webinar by me tomorrow at 12 noon Central time (GMT-5) on “Why and How to Upgrade to MySQL 5.1″. The webinar assumes you are upgrading from MySQL 5.0 to MySQL 5.1, and talks a little bit about the new features, server variables, and what you need to know when upgrading to MySQL 5.1.
