The $60 Billion Software Battle

Some nice background on the battle between Oracle and SAP. Although the companies and their CEOs have very different styles, their strategies seem to be merging. Both are trying to integrate software developed by other firms that complements their existing products. They are hoping to lock up the highly specialized industries, as well as small to medium-sized businesses, that are currently slipping through the cracks.
The article also mentions other key competitors trying to gain a stronghold in the enterprise software market. Of particular interest is Microsoft, which to date has mainly been focused on small to medium-sized businesses.
