The Pythian Group is seeking a Senior Unix Systems Administrator in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

You will be measured not by years of experience but rather by overall abilities, so please feel free to apply even if you don’t have years and years of experience.

Criteria:

• experience with more than one flavor of Unix (Solaris/Linux/HPUX/AIX)
• experience working with 24×7 production systems
• proficiency in Shell and Perl scripting
• experience with installation, configuration, and deployment
• involvement in capacity-planning and performance-tuning
• knowledge and experience supporting and troubleshooting Veritas products, specifically Veritas Volume Manager and VxFS – Veritas File System
• exceptional troubleshooting skills and support of critical production environments
• knowledge and experience supporting networking services and protocols such as TCP/IP, NIS, DNS, NFS, FTP, SSH, SMTP, IPSEC, Samba, Sendmail
• good understanding of storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS, etc.)
• willingness to work with Windows systems
• ability to learn quickly
• consulting, Cluster and DBA experience a plus
• fluent communications skills in English, both written and oral
