Pythian manages some of the most visible online media properties in the world. We are currently running the back-end infrastructure for McDonald's Monopoly promotion in the United States, and we manage infrastructure on behalf of Fox Interactive Media, CBS, Forbes Media, National Public Radio and many more of the "who's who" of the online media sector. Each case is different, but all require high-availability architecture to handle large simultaneous workloads, and change-control processes carefully designed to enable rapid deployment and versatility while ensuring availability and security.
Financial
Handling money entails implementing some of the highest and most rigorous standards of care for data and applications in the industry. Pythian has special expertise in change-control processes optimized for security, network and authentication architecture designed to meet the PCI DSS standard for credit-card storage. Among our 100+ customers, no fewer than 15 are publically-traded multinationals that require Pythian to meet the standards of care outlined by Sarbanes-Oxley and other international regulatory standards.
Healthcare
Pythian has been managing healthcare data for nearly as long as we have existed. We have helped our customers implement standards of care for compliance with HIPAA regulatory standards, and we also have experience managing systems in compliance with the documentation standards imposed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's 21CFR11 rules - considered by many to be the most demanding documentation standard for change authorization and control in the industry.
Government
Pythian has performed several projects for governmental agencies around the world, including Canada's National Capital Commission, Australia Post and the government of the United Arab Emirates. We also have experience navigating the complex vendor qualification and procurement processes demanded for servicing government accounts.
Manufacturing
From the very beginning, Pythian has been serving customers in the manufacturing sector. We have deployed resource-planning applications to the factory floor, including some robiticized environments with bar-code scanning-based part picking and routing. In these deployments, up to several thousand employees working 24/7 rely on working databases and systems to do their job - and the cost of downtime quickly rises into six figures per hour. Pythian specializes in this sort of mission-critical deployment, and over the years we have expanded our reach to large-scale online businesses' order assembly systems and electrical power management and distribution systems regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
