[Szymon Skorupinski](https://changetracking.wordpress.com/2019/02/13/troubleshooting-oracle-session-disconnection-slowness/) has investigated a very interesting issue about troubleshooting Oracle session disconnection slowness. Oracle Enterprise Manager [Cloud](https://technology.amis.nl/2019/02/14/enterprise-manager-convert-to-cluster-database-rac-fails-without-showing-errors-at-pre-configuration-phase/) Control 13c provides a wizard to convert a single-instance database to an Oracle RAC database. This requires the Oracle Database Lifecycle Management Pack for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. Today (14-Feb-2019) Oracle officially released the 19c docs and Oracle Database 19c for [Exadata](https://jaffardba.blogspot.com/2019/02/oracle-19c-and-my-favorite-list.html) through e-delivery channel. Since the news is out, the Oracle community is busy talking about 19c availability and sharing articles about 19c, etc. Often times, a [digital](https://www.fishbowlsolutions.com/2019/02/building-a-custom-component-with-the-oracle-digital-assistant/) assistant must execute on logic that can’t be written in the YAML or in a Q&A and should therefore use a custom component. Some use cases for a custom component might be: sending an email to the user or bot administrator, making an API call with user input, or connecting to an external data source to return user’s information. The Oracle [HCM](https://orclville.blogspot.com/2019/02/the-oracle-hcm-cloud-team-hosted-their.html) Cloud team hosted their annual Customer Advisory Board meetings at Oracle HQ last week.

## **MySQL: **

Vitess is a sharding and scaling solution for MySQL that can make thousands of databases appear to be a single monolithic database. What is Aurora? It's a [MySQL](https://mysqldba.blogspot.com/2019/02/aurora-mysql-differences.html) wire protocol compatible storage management system that sits on top of MySQL and modifies some innodb internals. Let's explore the consequence of reducing durability on masters (including setting [sync_binlog](https://jfg-mysql.blogspot.com/2019/02/master-replication-crash-safety-part-3-gtid.html) to a value different than 1) when slaves are using legacy file+position replication. [Matomo](https://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-install-matomo-web-analytics-on-fedora-29/) (formerly Piwik) is a free and open source web analytics application developed by a team of international developers that runs on a PHP/MySQL web server. It tracks online visits to one or more websites and displays reports on these visits for analysis. When things go horribly wrong and a process crashes, one of the most powerful things to investigate the cause of the crash is a core dump. As the amount of memory allocated to processes such as MySQL has increased – in some cases approaching [1TiB](https://mysql.wisborg.dk/2019/02/11/reduce-mysql-core-dump-size-by-excluding-the-innodb-buffer-pool/) of memory – enabling core dumps can cause problems of their own.
