The Chronicles of Yanick: Pitch Black

Boys and girls, please make yourself comfortable. Sit back, clip your seatbelt, and relax as we ready ourselves to take the scenic route to YAPC. I’ll try to stick to a semi-chronological order, which means that I will begin at the beginning. Maybe not the beginning beginning — my youth was a fairly uneventful and boring one — but a beginning that provides both scope and a springboard to this odyssey.

Oracle Mix: OOW11 voting, Australia speaks up through votes

I’ve been so amazed by the community response to my requests over the past few days that I just HAD to blog about it. In this post I’ll cover Oracle MIX and Suggest-a-Session voting, my very first experience and approach to the event, and special thanks to those who showed their support.

5 Days Left – Vote for Pythian Sessions at Oracle OpenWorld 2011 on Oracle Mix

Summer’s here, and that means it’s time to start thinking about Oracle OpenWorld 2011. Pythian’s plans are well underway. Exadata SIG, London April 18th

My presentation was on an Oracle Exadata implementation that we carried out and that I support on an ongoing basis. The presentation went well and everyone seemed to enjoy it, there were plenty of questions afterwards. We even managed to start a room discussion on columnar compression. The last presentation of the day was from Stewart Bryson on Agile DW with Exadata and OBIEE. All in all, an excellent day which was well run by UKOUG.
