The SaaS company faced a massive wave of incoming data that overwhelmed its legacy Microsoft SQL Server database, threatening to stall business growth. They partnered with Pythian to move their 380GB of critical customer registration data over to Google Cloud Spanner so their telematics platform could handle ten times more traffic. To prevent any service interruptions during the move, Pythian used a data-syncing tool called Striim to securely copy files in real time without shutting down the platform. Pythian also used an automation tool named Terraform to set up hands-free daily backups and continuous health monitoring. This modern cloud setup gave the company unlimited room to grow, letting their internal teams focus on improving vehicle safety and customer experience instead of managing databases.

Integrated Striim to ensure a risk-free migration with zero downtime.

To securely connect the old database with the new cloud system, Pythian introduced a real-time syncing tool called Striim. This tool instantly copied data back and forth, allowing the company to make a clean, immediate switch to the cloud instead of running two separate systems at once. Striim kept all company data perfectly synchronized and completely available for live tracking analytics throughout the entire move. With this setup, Pythian cut down the project timeline and completely prevented service interruptions for active users.

Introduced infrastructure automation to eliminate human error and maintain continuous system health.

Pythian built a custom operational software suite using Terraform to manage the cloud setup after the migration. This tool automatically handles routine technical maintenance, such as running scheduled data backups and checking system health around the clock. By handing these repetitive tasks over to automated software, Pythian reduced the risk of human error and made the database far more reliable.
