Preparing you for AI
Karen has a distinct and experience-informed knowledge of how best to support customers during their transformation journey toward AI readiness. She’s uniquely positioned in her expertise to guide organizations along the path to AI enablement with her keen understanding of data science, data engineering, data architecture, data governance, and data productization.
Data literacy and fluency
Karen, along with other AI experts within the Pythian team, support customers in distinguishing the difference between data literacy (gaining an understanding of data) and data fluency (using that understanding to translate and transform data into real-world business insights and outcomes).
Governance as the foundation for AI
With the increasing use of AI, data governance is becoming even more critical to ensure data quality, trustworthiness, transparency, and accountability. This includes aligning on key metrics and their sources across different business units. Karen’s honed perspective on the processes around data governance inform on the most streamlined approach to accomplish the strong foundations that prop up secure and scalable AI implementation.
Data productization and modeling
There are different types of data modeling, including normalized and denormalized data, each serving different purposes for analysts and data scientists. Karen assesses a customer’s needs, employing a balanced approach between these modeling types, to determine what strategy will likely produce the most accelerated value. This balance between modeling types to substantiate data toward value is still needed, even in the age of AI.
AI and data democratization
AI has opened up data to a variety of business users that wouldn’t, otherwise, have the ability or capacity to engage with and leverage it. Through the power of AI solutions, data access is being democratized—allowing business users to interact with data using natural language, without needing SQL. However, specialized data analytics and data science teams are still necessary for deeper analysis, forecasting, and predictive / prescriptive analytics.
Results-focused outcomes
By bringing together an in-depth understanding of the constantly evolving AI landscape and an experience-tested knowledge of what leadership roles need to be informed on to make critical decisions, Karen serves as a catalyst toward transformative evolutions within our customer organizations.
Overcoming data challenges
Across different companies, there are common challenges related to data silos, understanding data quality, and building trust in data. Karen’s foundation is in productization of the data—making data understandable and usable.
AI and the human factor
While data lakes promised a central repository for big data, the reality often involved analysts spending significant time on data wrangling instead of insights. The human element that Karen and the Pythian team bring, including deep subject matter expertise, remains crucial even with advanced AI.
A metrics-driven approach
Common use cases for analytics and AI revolve around growth, churn, and ultimately, profitability. Karen has a career’s worth of experience to draw on to support our customers in quickly determining the AI use case that aligns best with their intended business outcomes.
AI adoption and change management
One of the more significant challenges during the AI readiness process is efficiently managing the changes that need to occur to support the transformative environment AI creates. It’s key to address technical debt in legacy systems, remove redundancies, and eliminate data silos. The upfront work is what sets customers up for successful AI enablement.
Harnessing the power of the cloud
Cloud-based technologies, like Google Cloud, are making data and AI more accessible, scalable, and flexible for businesses of all sizes. These cloud platforms are democratizing the ability to use data and build applications quickly. Karen supports our customers in getting the most out of these systems to accelerate the processes around AI enablement.
The “Chief Technology Suite” era
There's a growing necessity for collaboration on and understanding of AI across various leadership roles. From CIOs and CTOs, to CMOs and CDOs—skill gaps within teams need to be addressed to effectively leverage AI and build momentum around its adoption. Pythian works with both the business users and c-suite team members to build that much needed synergy.
Modernize with ease, reduce technical debt, mitigate risk
Karen has extensive experience with all hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, Azure) modernizing workloads with containerization and virtualizations, network modernizations, implementation of data and storage platforms, and ensuring business continuity.
