SIOUG 2007

As I already mentioned earlier, I’m going to Slovenia to participate in the 12th Slovenian Oracle User Group Conference. In just few hours I’m leaving to Germany and, after few days spent with old friends there, driving down to Portorož on Adriatic Sea. The conference takes place in Grand Hotel Bernardin from 23rd to 26th of September 2007.

SIOUG conference should have around 500-700 attendees and it’s probably the biggest User Group gathering in Eastern Europe. I didn’t know that there are so many international speakers coming until Jože Senegačnik mentioned that after the Miracle Scotland Database Forum back in May.

Indeed, looking at the agenda, practically at any time during the conferences there are two sessions in English out of 6 parallel threads. In fact, I might even go to few sessions in Slovenian - it turns out that I can understand majority of the language - it’s quite similar to Russian.

The topics look very good so I’m afraid I won’t be able to slack there too much in favor of beach time and swim in the Adriatic Sea. I’m a little jealous that Olga and Alex Jr. are so lucky and can enjoy those days big times. I probably will need to sacrifice my lunch time for a swim and I’m seriously considering that!

I should mention to my shame that I’m just finishing the second of my two presentations and as usual I never happy with what I’ve got so far. On every review I notice something to fix and to improve. The presentation will be only 40 minutes long which is quite short for such topic as RAC Connection Management and I had to sacrifice some areas in order to fit into the time-frame. Even though, I have close to 70 slides so depending on the interest of the audience I might have to skip some of them.

Stay tuned for the full conference coverage.
